Whoever followed the following thread:
http://www.goodsoundclub.com/LatestPosts.aspx?ThreadID=2974kind of know what was brewing with Macondo tweeter. Over the last couple months I was working with RAAL Company

I would have been tempted to maximise space above for use by 4 midbass 15" drivers, 2 per side maybe in separate enclosures you can can move each module independently of the other. But probably too late for that as you have ordered the enclosures. And...

I and a few of my audio friends wonder why we are drawn to this site, but for me I guess sometimes I feel I put too much emphasis and effort into sound reproduction. When I venture here that feeling quickly disappears.Yep, your into horns a...

Copper domes???The Lansche is one of the speakers I would like to hear. Is it sonically useful to cross an ionic tweeter at 1.5kHz?Is it true that a RAAL sounds more like an ionic tweeter than like a ribbon? Here is the CSD of the Supravox:...

Raal didn't open doors until after lunch Saturday. Said they were having problems, getting everything working, Lynn Olsen said they were having problems with the room, a bump in the 150~250Hz region and a hardness in the sound between 3 an...

"I really do not know. It sounds to me as purely speculative subject. I do not know how RAAL ribbons sound and I am not a big fan of ionic tweeters as I never seen them to work successfully with any other type of transducer."I have heard them work ve...
That is very good approach in my view. The
problem is in this approach that you have to have high sensitively speakers
that you would be able to use with that test full-range Milq. The behavior of
the Full range Milq wi...

I have been asked by a number people who monitored my progress with RAAL’s “Water Drop” tweeter: “Romy was it worth it?” Well, I think after a year of leaving with tweeter, learning and satisfying it’s little habits I might pass some generalizing obs...
I plan to
build a fullrange Melquiades for a friend and then if that works out the DSET 6
or 7 channel version for myself.
That is very good approach in my view. The

I was listening last night the HF section of MiniMe. It was interesting and frankly very promising. The RAAL 70-20XR were fine and he JBL5 did splendid. They are not properly integrated, were not measured and were made up to work together well, it wa...

HiSomething sounds very wrong - maybe something fishy about your samples?Take a look at Nelson Pass measurements towards the end of the following document:http://www.passdiy.com/pdf/KleinHorn2.pdfwhere it looks like the PTR9s have similar sensitivity...

Well, this a sad reality of Hi-Fi shows. Alex is new to Hi-Fi shows and he is trying to do something better. He will go over it. More experienced vendors do not give damn about sound in their room as they understand that the “sound in the room” is no...

Romy, is this a trick question? You are the only person I know of with time aligned, true IB ULF channels using 4 Aurasound sub-woofers, so who's going to answer your question? The first thought that came to my mind was how some "Big Music" composer...
There should be an 111dB tap on the Lazy Ribbon, but perhaps you have tried that already. Other than that, perhaps talk to RAAL to see if they can improve the sensitivity a little more with a transformer change (or something el...

Very good. Raal 70-20XR...interesting. Where are you planning to cross these over?I remember the discussion about the internal balloon. That is a very good idea and this may be the perfect opportunity to try it. It will also b...
I see why you want those tap options now - essentially you want to be able to load down the 6e5p but still use all the secondary sections. There may be some frequency response variations in the ultrasonic range by playing the tap ga...

Hard to comment on this one... Seems like most everyone I talked to there hears with their eyes, and thought they were beautiful sculpture, therefore sounded wonderful... Maybe I should just be honest and say I flat didn't like the s...

Romy.Have been reading various threads to glean information on tweeter options. I read with enthusiasm your experiences with the RAAL teardrop tweeter until I saw the price, then had to change my plans.Your brief comments on the T90A ( affordable in ...

The ribbons surely do lack "qualities", but we are talking about serious "HF" in this case, and who says real HF actually wants "qualities"? I really doubt that any "tweeter" that can do "stuff" can also do what the ribbon does best - in a class...

Another tool used by sound pros is LEAP. The guy who designed my BassZillas (some time ago) used this tool to make the most of a BR enclosure. As for the Fostex (U)HF, the pros tend to correct them digitally, as they need "something". Mainly, did you...
I didn't explain the context of S3 use in my future system. I'm awaiting for a delivery of Beyma TPL-150 which will be tested for upper mid channel, under either Raal Lazy or Fostex T825 tweeters.
I am not sure that I agr...

Well, I'm still waiting for 2m 40Hz horn, 200Hz and 270Hz LeCleach. But can't wait to try something! But I'm very eager to experiment with drivers I have, so this is what I got today! If someone has expirience in judging recorded sound, welcome to comm...

One of many issues with dipole speakers is directivity/beaming at HF. I have been firing multiple paper tweeters at various angles on my OB test mules with varying results. Here is Alex's idea for a dipole ribbon:https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.c...
I do not understand what does it mean. Are you saying
that you lost bottom response with closed exit hole on the driver back? If with
the closed drift from back you have a (loaded!) response no lower than 200Hz then it i...

Alex obviously knows a whole lot about ribbons, and I like his approach, too. So I wonder how his 70-10 stock model sounds at 2k Hz, which it is rated for and so designed to do. I really wonder if this ribbon might be an excepti...

Coops, there were more than a hundred rooms at that show (including the cabins of the small manufacturers in the ground floor) and I had no other chance than giving many of them just seconds, so I only stayed longer when I liked the sound after these ...
Over the course of the last year I have been gently harassing my transformers-savvy surrounding trying to evangelize them into amorphous core. They stubbornly and perhaps stupidly resist. Some of them not…

Thanks for your quick reply. I have been to assistance audio`s website, however was unable to find such model, but is possible they just disassembled the tweeter or whatever. This is really interesting news, about their violin reproduction, me too wou...

Romy, I am on the verge of an L-pad for my HF ribbons, but in my case I believe it is mostly the MC cartridge response I am wanting to offset, on a case by case basis. Also, this would allow me to adapt HF to recordings, since there are some...
